Homemade buttermilk

What is buttermilk?
buttermilkˈ  - bʌtəmɪlk/ :
the slightly sour liquid left after butter has been churned, used in baking or consumed as a drink (Explanation from dictionary).

Why do we use buttermilk for baking?
Buttermilk is an essential component for most baking recipes. It is because they react with baking soda that enhances the flavour and texture of your baked goods.

Does it contain high amount of fat?
Although 'butter' make it sounds like its super oily but don't be deceived, they are actually low in calories (YAY). Same amount of protein and calcium as milk so you can preferably use it as a source of calcium.

(Answers adapted from here)

One day, you require buttermilk to make your favourite recipe but just right, you used it all up the day before. Don't fret going to the grocery store to grab one because you can just chunk it up from milk and vinegar. You can use 1 tablespoon of lemon juice instead.
