朝食

朝食 (Chō-sho-ku) means breakfast in Japanese.

Breakfast in the morning is quality time spent with family and friends, or even alone. Nothing can go wrong with breakfast as long as it is done in the morning. The idea of eating in the morning is a tradition in my family for years, and my mom makes sure all of us eat a piece of bread to fill our tummies. She does get angry if none of us are willing to eat because she sees the importance of gaining enough energy to go through the day. As a result, I got influenced and breakfast holds a significant role in starting the day right. Different countries have a unique set of ''standard'' breakfast in their homes. We love all kinds, bread in particular.

1. Oatmeal Porridge
Pour a cup of oats into a pot and fill with water until it covers the surface.
Bring to a boil and stir.
Once they start to become chunky, add in 1 or 2 tbsp of condensed milk ( desired sweetness ).
Serve with seasonal berries and banana slices.
Best for cold and chilly mornings.

2. Toasted bread
Place bread in the oven/toaster and allow it to get crispy.
Use either jam, marmalade, nutella, peanut butter, butter, and slap on the bread.
You can also fry an egg, boil an egg and place on it.
P.s. Dipping plain bread into coffee works for me all the time.

3. French Press Coffee
Boil some water.
Pour some hot water into the french press to warm it up.
Remove the hot water and place 2 tsp of grounded coffee.
Pour in some water whereby it covers the ground.
Stir to ensure it is incoporated.
Continue to add in the rest of the water.
Allow it to sit for 3-5 mins and you are ready to plunge.
After filtering, pour into a cup and adjust taste with milk & sugar.
Just use instant coffee if you are rushing for time

4. Sour Cream Spread (serve 1)
A tbsp of sour cream is equivalent to one person.
Hence you can double or triple the recipe as and when you want.
Chop a handful of basil leaves and a stalk of spring onions together.
Mix the greens into the sour cream and add in a pinch salt.
Spread over baguettes or normal white bread.
Totally diggin' into this.

That is pretty much it for a homemade, yet heartwarming breakfast. Nothing really fancy but a regular thing we all have to keep our spirits goin' for the day. There is a million ways to savour this moment and even if they are from Macdonald's, it is worth our time.
